Not really a stand-alone text.

The amazon description is not clear, but this is a companion to "The Thinker's Guide to Analytic Thinking". This is not clear in the description that Amazon provides. The document is available as a PDF for free on the web if you search for the title.

More a lesson plan for school teachers than a textbook

I expected a textbook; what I got a bunch of lesson plans and advice for teaching Socratic methods in a classroom.
Maybe the only bad thing about it is the title, which should be something more like "Teaching Socratic Methods in the Classroom".
It just is not a book for the student to learn and practice Socratic questioning from. Not at all. It assumes you already know how to use Socratic questioning and want to teach it. Perhaps a good teacher's guide mislabeled; I don't know how to evaluate teacher's guide, having never been a teacher.
