Very enlightening

This book held the key to my dreams........We all dream of everyday life but we have ti know that dream language us universal their is not english Chinese or Spanish........so this book helped me out a lot. Opened my eye to the road I was on and let me know to change course. Glad I ran into this map.

Not a good book

I brought this book hoping that it would give me like a list of words and show where to find the meaning of it in the bible but it does not. I disagree with every thing that the author says in the book because it does not match nor does anything in the book make any sense. Even thought, it was cheap, but it will not give you the clear meaning or understanding of the bible. I would not recommend this book to anyone. I rather for them to learn to trust on the Holy Spirit to guide you in Yahweh blessing word.

Anyone interested in the history of the Sierra Nevada mountains will enjoy this good collection of notes written by early, lesser-known explorers and climbers, describing their adventures in the then largely unexplored regions of the Sierras. Most of these are reports culled from early Sierra Club Bulletins. But be forwarned, readers will have to surround themselves with a sea of modern topo maps to follow the routes described by these turn-of-century adventurers. I found it almost impossible to trace some routes, even with 7 1/2 minute USGS topographic maps at hand. The editor occasionally identifies a location with the modern topo designation, but many locations are described with old names no longer in use. A few good maps showing the paths taken by these intrepid and amazing men and women would improve the book to a rating of 5 stars. I think the editor or publisher might profitably put up a web-based associated map site and offer it to all purchasers. This is a fine collection, despite the lack of modern maps, and I feel indebted to Peter Browning for putting it together. The biographical information on these early explorers is skimpy, but the reader can google their names and find out more about many of them. Some, such as Bolton Coit Brown, are fascinating characters, worthy subjects of book-length biographies.

This is a wonderful experience reading all of them again, and quite informative these many years since. I recommend this book for anybody that loves woodworking literature. I go back to it time and time again.

A top lexicon, but not The top lexicon

This was my primary lexicon for a Greek tools class prerequisite before starting the study of Koine Greek. The text has many strengths and a few weaknesses which I will outline below.

Pros-
- the book provides two ways to find Greek words. One is alphabetical (Greek alphabet) and the other is via Strong's numbers. (BDAG does not do this)
- Most biblical words are included (BDAG lists EVERY word)
- Aside from the word's definitions, information about the parts of speech used in Scripture are outlined (BDAG does this)
- Outstanding aids for understanding and interpreting parts of speech reside in the front of the book (BDAG does not do this)

Cons-
- Some Classical rather than Koine Greek definitions crept into the work (BDAG avoids this)
- All Scriptural uses of a word are not listed, but instead Perschbacher lists a few representative examples. (Unlike BDAG that lists all Scriptural uses)
- Definitions are often wooden and lack full ranges of the words used (BDAG avoids this)

If you have $130 to spend on THE best lexicon (BDAG - "A Greek - English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature Third Edition") then buy that lexicon. My second favorite is Louw and Nida's "Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament: Based on Semantic Domains (2 Volume Set)." However, both of these lexicons are expensive. If you don't have that much to spend, the best low-cost-lexicon is Perschbacher's.

This is the best lexicon for Bible students with little/no Greek knowledge, especially when coupled with Strong's Concordance. For those with knowledge of Greek, this is a good source to balance against BDAG.

Essential for the beginning student of Greek

This lexicon has saved me! Verb formations can be challenging in Greek. Okay, so that's an understatement. There are very few that are cut and dried. Most of the lexicons I found list the root of the verb, but if it's anything more complex, you may never find the word for which you're looking. This lexicon, however, lists each form of the verbs, nouns, adjectives and adverbs along with an analysis and a reference back to its root where a brief definition is given. It will save you, literally, hours of searching.

This Greek Lexicon was published originally in 1852 to aid "The Bible Student/Layman" to acquire a learned understanding of the Renewed Covenant. There is an additional 500 Greek forms which has been added to this revised work, which has served thousands of readers for over a century. No human work is without flaws do to the imperfection of mankind, but this work is an attempt to ensure reasonable updated changes to mankinds current understanding of Greek forms. Also, this new addition is very affordable in comparison to many other prestigious works.
